C oronavirus cases have reached to 1.2Lakhs as of now, and already 3.5 thousand people died in India because of this pandemic. India is now only behind by 10 countries to register a maximum number of cases and china is not on the list. India has already surpassed china [china registered around 83 thousand cases. But there are many douts on their registered cases and the United States of America also raised doubts that maybe china hiding real numbers. Though there is no such proof has been given by either USA or any organization. It is also facts that currently in china many places are open including Wuhan which was considered the origin of this corona virus] and if we consider active cases [67K] then India Only behind by USA[1142K], Russia[223K], Brazil[164K] and France[89K], and become 5th country in the w

What is the National Register of a citizen?

National register of citizen (NRC) as the name suggests, it is a record book of all citizen who belongs to the country. Every country has such or similar type of record book to identify citizens and non-citizen [foreigner]. Citizens of every country have many privileges such as to elect the government, access natural resources like water, fresh air, government jobs, electricity, protected by laws, and many more [country which has democracy ]. Citizens are the ruler of the country in democracy. So, citizens in a democracy have much power, it can not be given to an outsider which may create a national security issue.
A sometimes extraordinary event occurs and it becomes mandatory to update this record book to identify who are the citizens.[ As explain above citizens have a lot of power]. In history, two such events have happened in India.
First in 1947, when we divided into two countries called India and Pakistan and that time India had  prepared its first record book in 1955 and not updated yet except for the state of Assam.
Second In 1971, when Bangladesh becomes a new country but during that time many Bangladeshi come to India and stay in Assam state.
So, the requirement to update this record book emerges. Initially decided by our ex-prime minister Rajiv Gandhi that NRC would be updated for the state of Assam only, as mostly all Bangladeshi was living in Assam that time. But That registered never updated until 2016. In India, citizens are permitted to travel in any state without taking any government permission [except some north-east state] so the Bangladeshi can also be traveled without any prior permission and they traveled in India and settle in different states too. So now we can not only update NRC in Assam, but we must do it all over India now.
Citizens can be identified using documents only and no other way exists [If anyone has a better idea, please mention in comments]. Similarly, you are the student of any college and you can prove this by your Id-card or admission paper only. So, to update record book we must show documents to the government, and it is in favor of Indian citizens. All Indians must support NRC. [People should also raise a concern about the implementation part and make sure it should be smooth and not difficult for legal citizens]

What is CAA? Why it is required? Why it is required before NRC?

Citizenship (Amendment) Act (ACC) is amendment [add/change in existing one] done in citizenship act. Citizenship act is defined as who will consider Indian citizens and how a foreigner can apply for this.

Why CAA required before NRC implementation?

In 1947, India has been divided in two country and division was based on religion, as people who belonged to a minority, religion did not want to live with people who belong to a religion which is in majority [or religion which were separated from the majority religion and created new religion such as Sikhism, Jainism, and Buddhism]. But many people did not agree with this and many people who belong to minority religions, stayed in India and many people who belong to majority religion remained in Pakistan and Bangladesh. India remains secular and did not define any religion for the country and make all laws for everyone. But in Bangladesh and Pakistan, they decided to become an Islamic country so the main religion is Islam, and all laws made in favor of particular religion. A similar situation presents in Afghanistan.
Because religion was the main reason to divide the country, Mahatma Gandhi and Nehru knew that time that minorities in other countries may face problems in the future. so they promise to them if any time they want to come to India, it is the Indian government’s responsibility to give equal rights and citizenship to them. The same statement was given by our first President Dr. Rajendra Prasad in his speech. What they thought, the same things happened to Hindus and many Hindus have to convert to Islam to save life or they have to face violence or got killed in all these three countries. Some are lucky enough to escape and reach India. But India can not give citizenship to them because they are illegal and do not have a valid visa to enter India. If they want to apply for Indian citizenship, they have to face trial in court. It may take a long period of time and till they must live a very bad life in India, as they can not buy a house and can not apply for the government job.
Only one way to solve this problem is we have to remove all charges from them and do not consider them as illegal immigrants. To do this we need to change citizenship law which is CAA.
So, CAA is brought for these people and they do not remain illegal migrants. and can apply for Indian citizenship. It also reduced the minimum duration required to be present in India, from 11 years to 5 years. The CAA is only related to such kinds of people who are religious minorities in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh not related to Indian. Also, people belong to the majority religion from these countries can apply for Indian citizenship with minimum time stayed in India is 11 years. In fact, since 2013, 2830 Pakistani, 172 Bangladeshi, and 912 Afghanistan majority get Indian citizenship.
NRC is related to national security [Though it is very costly to implement in India and the way it has been implemented in Assam, creates more douts] and CAA is required for such people living in India miserably and facing problems since 1947. [CAA has already become as law in India]
So, as we have four types of people living in India,
1) Hindus who are a legal Indian citizen
2) Muslims who are a legal Indian citizen
3) Hindus who come here from other countries like Pakistan/ Bangladesh and Afghanistan
To whom Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, and Indian the government promise to accept anytime if they want to come back to India
4) Muslim who come here from other countries like Pakistan/ Bangladesh and Afghanistan
They are already taken separate land to make a new country as they do not want to live with Hindus initially.
NRC and CAA are for the last two types of people.

Comments

  1. For NRC government can use oeriodical voters' lists as proof of citizenship and identify illegal immigrants for deportation.
