Mob lynching of sadhus in Palghar

16th April 2020 two sadhu Chikne Maharaj Kalpavrukshagiri (70), Sushilgiri Maharaj (35), and their car driver Nilesh Telgade (30). They were on their way to Surat to attend a funeral. But villagers stopped them and start stone-pelting. The driver called the police for help. There are many videos already surfaced which shows there are many police officers were present. And one of sadhu tried to grab police officer hand but police do not help and give away them to the crowd.

In India, many mob lynching happens, but the problem, in this case, is police were present and still they could not help innocent people. Recently we have seen similar incidents during the Delhi riots. Also, when many attacks happened on health workers police were present but helpless. If police cannot help and implement the law, then who will do.

Also, one more common thing that happened in such incidents was stone-pelting. I can’t believe it suddenly started which earlier was limited to J&K state. Also, one community found involved in such incidents.

According to Maharashtra CM, it was not a communal incident and people thought that they were thieves and because they were wandering there at night during a lockdown. Police arrested 110 people and two police officers were being suspended too. But the question is if there is lockdown why 200 to 300 people were present then? Only two police officers suspended but in one of the videos, it was clearly shown that many police officers were present at that time. Some people whose name belongs to particular community names called in some videos too.

It is clear that Maharashtra police were failed, and they are definitely hiding something. The important point is stone-pelting incidents are increasing in India. It is high time to understand the actual problems and necessary decisions should be taken by the government.
